Food and Beverage

In most cases, the Blue Dragon will contract for all food and beverage. That way the Blue Dragon can be responsible for the quality and freshness of the food served to its guests.

We are pleased to present you with the following options for your upcoming events! Please understand that we are committed to your complete satisfaction and will do everything we can to provide you and your guests with an outstanding experience.

Therefore, unless otherwise agreed, no food may be brought into the restaurant from another source for consumption in our facilities. Also due to current health regulations, in most cases, food may not be taken off the premises after it has been prepared and served, nor kept for a future event.

All alcoholic beverage sales and service is regulated by the State of Hawai'i Liquor Commission. Blue Dragon, as licensee, is responsible for the administration of these regulations. Therefore, no liquor or beer may be brought into the restaurant from outside sources. Unopened bottles of wine are allowed with at least one week advance notice. An $18 corkage fee will be charged per bottle of wine brought in the restaurant. A bartender employed by the Blue Dragon must dispense alcoholic beverages served in our restaurant.

For off premise events the host is responsible for supplying all alcohol. The Blue Dragon is not allowed to offer alcohol outside of the restaurant and will not be held accountable for consumption at events off-site. We do offer a skilled bartender as well as full bar equipment rental.

We request all menus be finalized a minimum of 2 weeks prior to your function date in order to guarantee availability and price. Catering contracts, or Banquet Event Orders, will be issued for all organized food and beverage functions and a signature in acknowledgment of the arrangements contained therein will be required a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the event.

A taxable 18% service charge and 4.166% sales tax will be added to all food and beverage charges. A labor fee will be accessed for all function. Prices are subject to change without notice. Blue Dragon will guarantee pricing 2 months prior to event.


It is requested that the Blue Dragon Catering Services be notified with a tentative estimate of your guests at least 2 weeks prior to the event. We request your final tally and guarantee by 9:00 a.m., 3 business days prior to the event. This will be considered a guarantee for which Blue Dragon will prepare the appropriate amount of food and beverage for your guests.

You will be charged according to the 3 day guest guarantee, even if the actual attendance is less. Should your guaranteed guest count be significantly less than your tentative count, the Blue Dragon reserves the right to change the agreed amount per person accordingly.

Outside Events

Blue Dragon reserves the right to cancel or move any outdoor function, based on the weather. To ensure the timely set up of outdoor functions, the decision will be made by 1:00 p.m., the day of the event. We will discuss with you the need to relocate a function indoors. However, the Blue Dragon must reserve the right to make a final decision in the best interest of all concerned.

Entertainment, Music and Audio Visual Equipment provided by the Blue Dragon

We are happy to provide a state of the art full service multimedia department at the Blue Dragon property to including entertainment, music, Nintendo Wii, and audiovisual entertainment screen on a fee based rental basis. We have a wide variety of entertainment options to choose from. Allow us to personalize your choice of music. If given advance notice we can allow you to choose the entertainment for the evening. Rock, Blues, Country, Salsa, Hawaiian, Jazz and more are available right here on The Big Island.

At no time during the function is the noise level to exceed 55 decibels at a distance of 100 feet from the function before 10pm and must drop to 45 decibels after 10pm. The Blue Dragon management will monitor this ordinance set by the County of Hawaii Liquor Commission.

All entertainers are required to follow Blue Dragon established guidelines. The Blue Dragon must approve of all entertainment / entertainers brought into the restaurant.


For billing terms and conditions, please refer to your Letter of Agreement for billing information.

For catered functions, Blue Dragon requires a deposit of 50% plus tax to confirm the event. All deposits are nonrefundable if canceled two weeks prior to the event. 100% of the anticipated amount due will be due at the completion of the function.


Expenses incurred by the Blue Dragon in advance preparation for the event will be the responsibility of the person signing the catering agreement. In the case an event is canceled, the signee will forfeit all deposits paid to date. In addition, the Blue Dragon will assess a fee of 50% of all estimated charges for cancellations within two weeks in advance of an event. Payment of 100% of the estimated charges will be required for any event canceled within the 72 hour guarantee period.


Decorations and displays must be approved prior to use in our restaurant. Items may not be attached to a stationary wall, floor, window or ceiling with nails, staples, tape or any other substance in order to avoid damaging the fine fixtures and furnishings. Subcontractors and entertainers who may assist with your program will be required to sign acceptance of our published guidelines and procedures before any activity may commence.
